Bathroom Facelift

HEY GUYS! I feel like it’s been so long since I could sit down and focus on a blog post. Having a one year old is NO JOKE and a serious calorie burner.  But I’m taking in every second of him being little and watching all his amazing milestones. ANYWHO, this post is actually all about our bathroom facelift! I’m calling it a facelift because we left a lot of the bones such as the tub, vanity, and toilet.  Our house was built 3 years ago, so all of those things are still in great shape.

Our master bathroom is nothing crazy.  It’s your average bathroom and way too small for a master! But we’re living with it while we live in this home (we’ll move at least one more time).  However, I always said it would be one of the last projects we do in our house because no one really goes in it except for us.  But that was exactly it. WE go in it everyday and there’s nothing better than getting ready and refreshed for the day in a bathroom that makes you feel just that way-“refreshed.”

So, I had a vision one day that it would be a nice WHITE BRIGHT bathroom and I love how it turned out! I have no pictures of the middle of the project because the only major thing we replaced was the floor and I was working during that.  So lets start with some before pictures…

BEFORE

Here’s what the vanity looked like prior to replacing the mirrors and light fixture.  There just wasn’t enough character for my liking.  Small spaces done right can have so much character, so I was determined to make it unique!

This light fixture was just way too basic for me and in my opinion seemed so old fashion.

One thing I hated most about our bathroom was the paint color and floors. It made the whole bathroom have a “yellow” tint in which is just not me. This paint color was in our entire house but we have repainted every room to get rid of it!

Although I love this shower curtain, It was just way too busy for this small space.

And the toilet area just needed some love and character too!

Okay so now that you got a glimpse into the before scene, check out how a little facelift can brighten a small bathroom up SO MUCH! I will link as many items as possible or find similar items to link for you all to shop!

AFTER

So the first think we did was take everything off the walls and painted them “Simply White” by Benjamin Moore.  It’s such a perfect white. Instantly after starting to paint, I saw a huge difference.

Our vanity is part of the bones I was talking about.  It stayed because, why not? It’s bright and white and everything I’m looking for.  SO we added some new knobs from hobby lobby to give it new life!

Then I got really lucky with these mirror finds at homegoods.  It’s like they knew I was coming for them.  They matched exactly what I was envisioning.  I wanted it to feel fresh but with a modern farmhouse touch and these mirrors did just that! Not to mention- they added the character and uniqueness I was looking for too. I was worried about them fitting over our small vanity wall space but they fit absolutely perfect!.  They do touch in the middle but it doesn’t bother me.

Because these were a homegoods find, I can’t link the actual mirror but here are some similar ones:

Graywash octagon mirror- World Market

Woodwash octagon mirror- Wayfair

White octagon mirror- Wayfair

I did change out the faucets as well because I hated the cheap ones the builders installed. They were very shiny and just didn’t fit well with our look.  I went to Lowes and found pretty simple ones to keep this project affordable.  Faucets can get crazy expensive!

Our new light fixture is from wayfair and was on sale! We decided to add some bronze accents because it pops so nicely against the white walls and adds some contrast without darkening the bathroom at all.

Our exact fixture is out of stock but Ill link a few more similar:

The floor was our hardest decision by far! I had so many samples I laid over the old floor for a couple weeks trying to decide.  Originally, I was going to to go with a white woodwash tile. We used the gray wood tile in Cash’s bathroom and we love it.  But then we put the white in our bathroom and it didn’t look right at all.  So it was back to the drawing board.

We ended up choosing this calm marble tile which I LOVE.  I love a good modern farmhouse feel with a splash of glam if that makes sense? We decided not to go with any sort of shine to our marble so that it would look right with all the woods. Also, when choosing this tile we chose a light gray grout instead of white because sometimes white grout will yellow.  White grout is also a pain to keep up with!

And this bathroom rug gives me all the heart eyes.  Best part is that its only $15 from Walmart!

And finally, we added two industrial piping shelves above the toilet.  We wanted to keep them fairly small so that the bathroom didn’t look cluttered.  To save money, we bought the wood, had Home Depot cut it to the right size (they do this for free when purchasing the wood from them), and then stained it ourselves (Well Chris stained it himself).  Then we went and bought the piping accessories that we needed:

  1.  4 pipes (you choose the length, diameter)
  2.  4 wall flanges
  3. 4 caps
  4. screws- its important to get screws strong enough hold shelving up on drywall.

After we had all of those accessories we chose a spray paint color and sprayed everything! Even the screws.  This is definitely the cheapest way to make these kinds of shelves and I’m so happy with how they turned out.

Everything ended up coming together so nicely. We went from dull, drab and dingy to bright, white and refreshing!  If you have the bones of your bathroom- anyone can do an easy, affordable facelift! And now this is how I enjoy it…

Our shower curtain, curtain rod, and hooks were all homegoods finds as well! I basically find every shower curtain I’ve ever owned at homegoods.

Hotel Collection white waffle- Bed Bath & Beyond

If you love taking baths as much as I do, then I highly recommend this bathtub caddy! The tray extends to fit any tub and it holds so much! And obviously add a good candle, some bubbles, and wine and you’re good to go!

Hope this helps you make all your bathroom dreams come true!

XOXO
